Learn about the delicate Nabataean pottery style at the museum in Petra. The next morning you visit the Taybeh Ladies Cooperative pottery workshop, to try your hand at making your own piece of pottery in Nabataean style. After lunch you visit Wadi Rum, one of the latest UNESCO World Heritage sites, and take a jeep tour to learn about the ancient Thamudic rock art that you can still see today.

Day 1: Arrival

VenturAmana - Ancient Arts - Day 1You arrive in Amman at Queen Alia International Airport, where you finalise your visa and immigration entrance to Jordan, pass the passport registration area and collect your luggage. After that, our driver is waiting for you at the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name. Our driver takes you to your hotel in Amman for the night.

Day 2: Wadi Rum

VenturAmana - Ancient Arts - Day 2Today you transfer to Wadi Rum, where you have lunch with the Bedouin. In the afternoon the Bedouin Jeep tour takes you through the desert, where you stop to see the ancient Thamudic rock art. Afterwards, you have dinner and spend the night at a Bedouin camp.

Day 3: Petra

VenturAmana - Ancient Arts - Day 3In the morning you travel to Petra, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. You spend the day exploring the rose-red city, including a visit to the museum and its famous pottery collection.

Day 4: Dead Sea

VenturAmana - Ancient Arts - Day 4This morning you learn how to paint a piece of pottery in Nabataean style at the Taybeh Ladies Cooperative pottery workshop. Afterwards, you visit Little Petra and see the fresco art.

From Petra you take a scenic route to the Dead Sea via Wadi Namaleh. On the way you stop to visit Ghor Al Mazra’a, where you can have lunch, meet the community and help paint houses.

Day 5: Dead Sea

VenturAmana - Ancient Arts - Day 5You spend a full day enjoying the Dead Sea, where you can relax on the shores and in the water with its uniquely high concentration of salt and minerals.

Day 6: Madaba

VenturAmana - Ancient Arts - Day 6After breakfast you travel to Madaba. There, you visit the church of St. George to see the Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land, followed by the Archaeological Park to see other ancient mosaics. After lunch you can visit the Virgin Mary Mosaics or the Madaba Institute of Mosaic Art and Restoration for a mosaic class where you learn to make your own piece.

Day 7: Um El-Rassas

This morning you visit Um er-Rassas, another one of Jordan’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, famous for the complete mosaic floor found at the Church of St. Stephan. Then you travel to Amman for lunch. In Amman you can visit the art galleries of Jabal Weibdeh, Darat Al Funun, Darat Al Anda, National Gallery and many other attractions.

Day 8: City tour

VenturAmana - Ancient Arts - Day 8Today is spent in Jordan’s capital city Amman. You visit the Amman Citadel and the National Archaeological Museum with its displays of ancient sculptures, pottery, jewellery and more, as well as the oldest statues discovered in the region. {Note: some items will soon be moved to the new Jordan National Museum}.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast, our driver takes you back to Queen Alia International Airport for departure.
